On July 22nd, 2025, Associated Vehicle Assemblers (AVA) has released its first Sustainability Report, a milestone event held at its Miritini headquarters and officially launched by Mr. Adil Popat – Executive Chairman at Simba Corporation.
The report reflects AVA’s growing commitment to building a responsible, inclusive, and future-ready organization, aligned with the UN Global Compact and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Key milestones highlighted include:
- Joining the UN Global Compact
- Creating a Sustainability & Compliance Department
- Embedding ESG into core operations
- Setting measurable goals aligned with global frameworks
Among AVA’s 2030 targets:
- 30% women representation in the workforce
- 90% reduction in energy waste
- 100% composting of organic waste
- Scale-up of electric vehicle assembly
The report also features “AVA Making Waves”, an initiative to empower women in Kenya’s coastal blue economy, advancing sustainable livelihoods and inclusive participation in a growing marine sector. Additionally, it spotlights AVA’s CSR efforts which have over 4,200 lives through education, health, and road safety initiatives in the local community.
As AVA celebrates 50 years of automotive excellence, the launch of this report marks a renewed focus on sustainability as a driver of long-term impact and innovation.
